We began our journey with the Rwanda Girls Initiative in 2011, when they created the Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology, a state-of-the-art secondary school in Rwanda, to empower girls to make a lasting impact on their world. 2015 marked our fifth trip – and our fourth film – documenting the extraordinary lives of these extraordinary girls.

Part III, 2014
In 2011, the inaugural class of the Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology began their secondary educational journey. Three years later, the first graduates are heading off to college. In Girls of Gashora: College Bound, we continue the journey with some of these remarkable young women as they leave their families to pursue post secondary education in the United States and around the world.
Part II, 2013
The Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology in Rwanda educates the country’s most talented girls in science and technology, preparing them for college, and empowering them to become future leaders. In 2013, they graduated their pioneer class of 85 students. Girls of Gashora: Graduation 2013 documents the days prior to this celebration.
Part I, 2012
Although evidence supports the critical role of education in breaking the cycle of poverty, girls continue to have limited access to secondary schooling in Africa. The Rwanda Girls Initiative created The Gashora Girls Academy, a state-of-the-art secondary school, to empower girls with the training and leadership skills they need to make a lasting impact on their world.
