Mission and Vision
To educate and empower girls of Rwanda to reach their highest potential.
To create a world where all children, regardless of country of origin, will be socially, emotionally and intellectually prepared to succeed in school, life and in their community.
We believe access to education is the fundamental right for all and not just a privilege for those who can afford it. Our aim is to provide a world class secondary school education for girls in Rwanda, empowering the girls to achieve full agency in a boarding school environment. We have developed and will continue to develop a community of learners, which includes students, teachers, and parents.
Our School: Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology
In collaboration with the community and Rwanda’s leadership, Rwanda Girls Initiative (RGI) was founded in order to establish an upper-secondary boarding school, Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology (GGAST). We opened a boarding school in order to remove the many barriers to education that girls’ face. GGAST first opened its doors in 2011 and has graduated 621 dynamic young leaders.
We support an environment of academic excellence, ensuring that graduates will become inspired young leaders filled with confidence, a love of learning and a sense of economic empowerment to strengthen their communities and foster Rwanda’s growth.
We have developed a new model for investing in the education of girls in Rwanda rooted in connections to the local community, strengthened by national and international partnerships, and supported by diverse and sustainable sources of income.
